Drum circle instruments that are therapeutic and FUN
In this video I talk about the kind of wonderful instruments that I'm bringing to my upcoming Rhythm Wellness Facilitator Training, Sunday 23 June in Melbourne.
Vegan friendly drums
Most of these drums are vegan friendly and sound quite musical. As you can see they look great to. Inviting enough to get creative and explore rhythmically. One of the great benefits of the drum circle is there are three drum pitches, low, medium and high pitch. Having these three pitches help with musicality, it brings out different tones from each pitch, creating more harmonics between the drums.
Yes adults can have fun with percussion too
The quality, the distinctive characteristic and influence of sound is called timbre. Percussion adds so much to the drum circle, they compliment the drums. There are four groups of percussion:
- Wood sounds
- Shaker sounds
- Bell sounds
- Soundscape sounds
Each sound element of all the drum circle brings a different colour resonance. Just imagine each drum and percussion has it's own colour and so we begin to see the drum circle through the eyes of a painter - sound is colour and energy, as a facilitator you're guiding your group to paint a picture (through sound/vibration).
3 Healing elements of music (one of the topics in the training)
The Rhythm Wellness training delves deep into 3 healing elements of music.
- Rhythm
- Harmony
- Melody
Lower tones affect muscle tension and physical movement, middle tones stimulate heart, lungs and emotions and high tones resonate in the brain, affecting cognitive function.
Sound therapy instruments
A huge part to all my trainings is musicality and the metaphysical elements of music that bring mindfulness, healing and joy.
My intention is to inspire and empower people to impact the world through healing power of music, sound and rhythm. The more we are open to the possibility of really connecting with one another through rhythm, music and sound, the more we will come together as one, no matter age, race, gender or class.
You don't need to be a musician to get the benefits from music. Imagine running your own program in your community...all that's needed is an open heart and the courage to take a step into the world of sound. Next opportunity you get...TAKE IT, it can be life changing.
