Explore music making with Sansula Kalimba and Tibetan singing bowls
One of the great things about the Sansula Kalimba is you don’t need to be a musician to play and make music. If rhythm stimulates positive energy, melody is the heart of music where we connect with emotions. This beautiful combination of rhythm and melody is the secret ingredient to creative music making.
Sansula Kalimba for sound baths, wellbeing programs, even the classroom
The Sansula Kalimba is a beautiful instrument created in Germany and one that I play a lot in Positive Music sound baths and wellbeing programs. The tuning is A minor, notes A-C-E-F-B, which goes beautifully with A minor instruments such as Flute, Hapi drum, Hang drum and many classroom instruments. Plus singing bowls that are in the key of A minor or C major.
Creative tool for teachers and drum circle facilitators
Sansula Kalimba is a wonderful creative tool for people who work, teach or facilitate small groups. For example, you might be facilitating a team-building workshop and the drum circle event is at the stage to bring individual consciousness to group consciousness. By facilitating the group to listen to the melody and softer sounds, you’re facilitating (with ease) attention to group dynamics and deeper listening.
Just this one instrument in your drum circle facilitator kit, can change the direction and dynamics of your rhythm event, giving you the facilitator a bag full of ideas, tools and techniques. Just thinking about the possibilities gives me goosebumps…
There are all kinds of instruments I bring to my Positive Music drum circle facilitator training, that can be used for rhythms-events, wellbeing circles, the classroom and team-building. The most important aspect to facilitating groups is that anyone can make music together, using Rhythm, Melody and Harmony. The key here is facilitating non musicians to connect with each other through Rhythm, Melody and Harmony.
