Playing a musical instrument really reduces over thinking and brings us into the present moment, even science tells us this. Because you’re reading this, you are ahead of the game! You know music is powerful; music goes beyond words, tunes us into feeling, gives us a voice and more importantly gives us an opportunity to go within and elevate our thoughts and feelings. Invitation to drumming meditation with self-compassion 

Today let’s bring intention of self-compassion into our drumming practice. Here I have two rhythms you can learn on the djembe or frame drum. Both rhythms are not too busy, so it doesn’t take us into the part of the brain that has to think too much. Spend a few moments learning these rhythms and once you feel comfortable begin to play along to the track.
