Rhythmical fun for the whole family
Are you looking for a fun family activity that brings corporation and collaboration to your household? The great advantage with rhythm, drumming and making-music is that it teaches working together, cooperation and collaboration, and in this case creating a fun and more peaceful family household.
These are interesting times we are living in. Children and parents routines have been thrown up in the air, and while we are in lockdown, we don’t know when we can all return to work and school, which can put undue stress on any household.
Drumming creates corporation and collaboration
Many organisations from community to corporate know the importance of teamwork and getting everyone communicating and creating together. That’s why they bring in team-building drumming for their team or group. Why not bring it into the home, and create a family get together of fun? When my Mum was little (there was no TV back then) her neighbours and family would sit around the piano singing and creating musical plays for everyone’s entertainment. Maybe it’s time to bring something like that back into the family?
Cooking up Rhythm from kitchen utensils with bits and bobs
If you have a heartbeat you have rhythm! Creating a rhythm doesn’t necessary require any traditional musical instruments such as drums. Take a look in your kitchen, garage, even in your garden. There are plenty of fun found sounds that can be used to create lots of interesting rhythms. As you can see from the video, I play kitchen utensils and garage…I actually don’t have a dog, but I do love to collect fun sounds to include in my drum circles and school workshops.
Watch the video as many times as you like. These rhythms I came up with, within 10 minutes, I’m sure you can add your own flair to this rhythmical piece. Remember it’s about fun, being creative and bringing family closer together.
