Explore sound healing elements of music for a peaceful mind
I love exploring the enormous possibilities of sound healing, playing a beautiful variety of universal healing instruments.
For century’s many cultures across the globe have been utilizing these healing instruments for therapeutic use for the mind, body and spirit.
In the past 15 years I’ve been studying sound healing from Tibetan monks to well-known sound healing academies, master teachers and through my own personal studies.
4 healing metaphysical elements of music to reduce stress and anxiety
What if we had a way to help reduce the symptoms of trauma, stress and anxiety?
If you’re reading this maybe you’re on your own healing journey? Maybe just recently had a setback and looking for ways to help manage emotions, thoughts or physical dis-ease?
In my teacher trainings and sound healing workshops for self-care, I love sharing wisdom surrounding these incredible instruments and the therapeutic power of music. Exploring how each instrument can alleviate discomfort and promote harmony is truly enlightening. It’s a life changing experience for students.
Not only do I play these therapeutic instruments for my sound healing clients and facilitated group sound baths, I also love creating healing music with these healing elements. Let’s explore the four healing elements of music as shown in the video.
Over to you… close your eyes and listen to the instruments from the video. I know it’s tempting to watch; however we strengthen our listening skills by closing our eyes. A good pair of headphones are preferable. What can you hear?
On the right I have included a diagram of what instruments to play for the four elements.
Let's get more harmony
Over the years I have meticulously chosen Himalayan singing bowls that harmonise with each other to create beautiful musical chords and bowls that suit sound healing for clients. As you may know that Himalayan singing bowls are crafted by hand and aren’t pitch perfect.
I love making music with the Himalayan singing bowls as they all have their own unique characteristics. When I put together healing music featuring the Himalayan singing bowls it takes time and patience on the music production side of the creative process.
The harmony from this comes from the singing bowls and guitar.
Grounded by the rhythmic drum
I had chosen a lovely frame drum to give the music to add tempo, groove and grounding. Notice it’s a simple rhythm that doesn’t get in the way of the melody of the flute. The drum plays a supporting role. Very much like in a drum circle, where participants support each other’s rhythms.
The harmony and rhythm play a beautiful supportive role… a nice bed for the native American flute to rest its sweet melodies.
Melody to support the heart chakra
Melody connects to our heart and soothes the soul just like a mothers warm gentle loving embrace. I’m playing the beautiful native American style flute for melody, once again this sound healing instrument is crafted by hand and not pitch perfect (it's pretty close though).
I teach absolute beginner students who have never played a musical instrument in their life to play the native flute for self-care and sound healing instruments. when we understand the importance of the metaphysical world of healing music we see and hear music in its beautiful way of healing the soul.
Music is medicine for the soul. It’s a tool for wellbeing. If we get sick the doctor prescribes anti-biotics to take every day. Let’s have music every day. Let’s make time for self-care and self-love. This becomes the perfect antidote for remembrance of our true self.
Silence to bring everything together
Where can you find silence within this song? Notice it is at the start before I strike the singing bowl with the Tibetan mallet? Silence can also be felt and heard throughout the song as well. Silence is in the remembrance of who we truly are, which is peace. Silence of the mind, heart and all energy.
If you have a drum, drum along to the song. As I share with all my students, music is a healing tool, you don’t need to be a musician to create music. Music belongs to everyone. Exploring sound healing is truly a journey of self-discovery; this journey becomes our storyline. You are unique. Is it time for you to explore your true potential?
