Bring more positive energy into your day with drumming meditation
We are living in interesting times that can trigger fear, anxiety and stress. This increases of the us and them mentality and a self-focus which can lead to disharmony and chaos in community.
Thoughts are powerful
Now is the time to tune in and be mindful of thoughts. Our thoughts are powerful and creating positive thoughts can strengthen immune system, increase a better night sleep and a sense of being in rhythm. There’s a flow and easiness. So how can we not be influenced by things around us? One way to manage thoughts and keep positive is through meditation. I feature this in my online drumming meditation course.
Drumming meditation
There are all kinds’ of ways to meditate. Listen to guided meditation, being in silence, taking a walk and being mindful of the sounds around us or music and drumming. On a personal note I love all these suggestions.
So let’s look at a creative way to meditate through drumming. No matter whether you’re a professional musician or a beginning beginner, when we use sound to center and calm our mind we begin to tune in to something special, our natural rhythmic spirit. And we ALL have it. What I’m saying is anyone can do it; all you need is a drum.
How can I create positivity by drumming?
Here is a plan for you. For the next month, take your drum and play for three minutes, three times a day. Now this could be just as you wake from sleep, before or after lunch and before you go to bed. Remember 80 beats per minute or at slower tempos (to help slow your brain waves to Alpha and Beta).
Find out what you resonate with. Is it drumming on your own with no music accompaniment? Or is it playing along to healing music or joining an online drumming course to help inspire you?
Once you’ve got that. Setup a safe space either in your home or somewhere else. With this space you could be really creative add some ornaments, posters, photos, add a splash of colour, maybe some flowers, what do you like?
If you are struggling to find a positive thought, read some affirmations to help inspire you or add music from your favourite composer that uplifts you. These are just suggestions. Find out what you like.
To recap …
- Drum 3 minutes, 3 times a day
- Drum at 80 beats per minute or slower
- Have an intention
- Use affirmations when needed
- Begin and end your drumming session in silence
- Listen to calming music when needed
How can I support you?
I care about you and you’re mental health, so how can I support you through the next few months? Please let me know. Is it drumming tutorials if so on what? Is it creating more live online drumming or sound meditations? I’d love to know please leave a comment below I’d love to hear from you.
