Dancing Wildflowers is a lively rhythmical piece with sweet melodies and ostinatos from the marimba. A wonderful introduction to 12/8 time signature for players.
It requires collaboration, coordination and cooperation with groovy hand drum and stick parts that play an integral role in the piece with solo features throughout.
Players also explore different sound possibilities of cymbals, tone chimes and funky chimes that explore the variety of soundscape colours of percussion.
This lovely arrangement from percussionist/composer Peta Minter also features an energising drum solo duet, encouraging students to explore rhythms, sounds and improvisation.
Dancing Wildflowers ensemble percussion composition is part of Peta Minter's series of environmental themes, bringing awareness to our important Australian fauna and flora.
Music has taken Peta to all parts of Australia, from the beautiful Tasmanian Cradle Mountain, Byron Bay beaches, to majestic NT Uluru and the diversity of wildflowers in Western Australia.
Did you know the biggest wildflower collection on earth comes from Western Australia region? There are over 12000 species with almost two-thirds unique to the state? Pretty impressive, yes? The more we bring light to the importance of these amazing natural beauties through the arts the more we can preserve and nurture our world.
