I’m Peta Minter, founder and director of Positive Music. With over 35 years of experience and working in the mental health field, I bring a gentle, trauma-informed approach to all my wellness sessions, holding space for relaxation, healing, and recovery. 

As a trained musician and sound practitioner, each instrument is thoughtfully chosen to help ease physical tension, emotional stress, and anxiety.

My aim as a group wellness facilitator, sound practitioner, music coach and educator are to help build strong, healthy and harmonious communities to support positive social connections and change through evidence-based rhythmic music and sound healing experiences".

A little snapshot…from the start 

From the age of 12, I began my musical journey, going on to perform in school bands and quickly became accomplished in many styles, playing both drumkit and percussion, including pop, funk, Latin, rock, jazz and big band swing. 

I've studied with the Australia's top drummer/percussionists including master percussionist David Jones, Darryn Farrugia (Hey Hey It’s Saturday), Dave Beck (In Melbourne Tonight), international djembe masters Adama Koita, Madou Keita from Burkina Faso, Mady Keita from Mali. 

I had the great opportunity to travel to Ghana, Africa to live and study African drumming in its own cultural setting. While there I studied and trained extensively from djembe master's from Burkina Faso and Ghana.
