40 Years’ Experience
MUSIC is a powerful tool for well-being! Interactive music making increases community harmony, team spirit and camaraderie.
From the start
From the age of 12 Peta began her journey of music. She went on to perform in school bands and quickly became accomplished in many styles, playing both drumkit and percussion, including pop, funk, Latin, rock, jazz and big band swing.
She studied with the country’s top drummers including master percussionist David Jones, Darryn Farrugia (Hey Hey It’s Saturday), Dave Beck (In Melbourne Tonight), international djembe masters Adama Koita, Madou Keita from Burkina Faso, Mady Keita from Mali.
Peta travelled to Ghana, Africa to live and study African drumming in its own cultural setting. While there Peta studied and trained extensively from djembe masters from Ghana and Burkina Faso.
Through commitment to reconciliation Positive Music acknowledges traditional custodians Kabi Kabi, Jinibara Sunshine Coast and The Wurundjeri people of Melbourne and surrounding lands where Positive Music provides services, and further acknowledges and pays respects to past, present and emerging Elders.
