For centuries sound, music, rhythm have been used as a tool for medicine, a tool for connecting to our inner wisdom, a tool for tapping into a higher self. When used correctly sound healing can shift blocked energies within the body, neurologically change brain patterns and create new pathways to rewire old thought patterns – though this takes time, a desire to change and trust. I see sound healing works beautifully as a tool for a total wellbeing, a preventative for illness. It becomes a lifestyle of self-care and self-love, a lifestyle such as meditation or eating healthy foods.
And when we add drumming as a meditative tool with sound healing in our daily life, self-transformation happens. When we change the world changes too…
Did you know when we get angry or feel fear or anxiety our body sets off a change reaction within the body of cortisol, which increases heart rate, constricts central blood vessels around vital organs and our breathing to be short and erratic, which in turn we make poor choices and decisions. And the list goes on…
When we understand that everything is energy – the food that’s prepared for us to eat, our thoughts, our body and yes even sound is energy. Being exposed to positive energy and vibrations can set our self up for a lifestyle of wellbeing, emotionally mentally and physically. research tells us that drumming at around 80 beats per minute can regulate our mood, boost our immune system and increase positive vibrations.
Let’s bring more joy into our life with free video Meditation in Rhythm series
By learning simple rhythms on the djembe drum and playing along to sound healing music, like Meditation in Rhythm (which was created for this very purpose – wellbeing tool). Drumming brings us into the moment, helping us let go of the past and worries of the future. Drumming supports the base chakra within the body, and helps grounds us. When we feel grounded our body, mind feel strong, energised. Music is a powerful medium for wellbeing, it can shift our mood from sorrow or worry to one of absolute joy, calm, hope and forgiveness.
